One of the reasons I chose to teach at a low income title 1 school is because I used to be one of these kids. My mom worked her butt off full time to make less than $8k a year, we lived in the projects, we were able to ahve food in the house on most days because of food stamps, and we were able to go to the doctor because we had medicaid. I know how hard their parents try. & I know that all my studnets need is a ME. Someone to believe in them. These are real conversations I’ve had with my kinder
